Cotton fiber is the most important fiber and cottonseed product is the fourth largest grain product in the world. Fibers, oil and animal feeds, and dozens of other industrial products can be produced from cotton.

 This crop is grown in 60 countries, which accounts for about 2.5 percent of the world's arable land, and the number of people employed in this industry is about 350 million.  In the region, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Turkey are the most important cotton producers. In order to minimize economic pressures by relying on a resilient economy, decreasing dependency on cotton imports is inevitable and to achieve this goal, determined strategies include paying particular attention to water usage efficiency, increasing production efficiency, develop second cultivation and reduce the costs.
